Demos

Apart from causing a riot, the main objective of Impulse was to create graphical demonstrations for the Atari range of computers. Here are some of them that we actually managed to finish.

Bugs From Outer Space | Ångest | Wizbound | Terra Incognita | Just For Your Information

Bugs From Outer Space (1996)

The winning demo contribution at Nordic Atari Show 1996. A preview was shown at Fried Bits III in Bremen. Read reviews for more information.

Features filled 3D-vectors, sphere mapping, Julia and Sierpinski fractals, z-rotation mapping, raytraced pictures, 4-channel music and more. Three parts compiled with transparent loader. Probably the only demo you’ll find with a 3D-Falcon and a 3D-Toilet.

“So you could be fooled into thinking this is just another demo. Wrong, it’s not what it does but how it does it! An animated globe, pixel precise raytracings, perfectly animated pieces and a superb soundtrack. Even the credits are worth watching!”
— Andrew, Falcon’s NeST PDL
“‘Into the blue’ is one of the classic greets screens of our generation.”
“This is another amusing and bizarre scene that could only have come from the twisted minds of Impulse!”
— Leon O’Reilly, Maggie 21 (September 1996)
“Impulse has finally got rid of some bugs, or should I say, they probably flushed away the alien bugs in a nuke toilet! (watch the demo.. :)) Impulse managed to win first price in the demo contest at NAS’96 with a very fine margin to ICE at second place. Well done guys!”
— Evl / DHS

Ångest (1995)

A small demo done in a few sleepless hours at Nordic Atari Show -95.

Features rotating zooming texture mapping, fast 3D wire and 4-channel music.

Wizbound (1995)

A dentro with various effects. Could be called the never-ending story, as we worked on this project for over three years, before we finally released a fraction of the work for fun at Nordic Atari Show.

Features odd animations, blue bubbles and more strange stuff.
